7^TH NATIONAL HYDROGRAPHIC COUNCIL MEETING HELD IN COLOMBO

The 7^th National Hydrographic Council (NHC) Meeting was held on 23 December 2025 at the Light House Galley, Colombo, under the chairmanship of the Chairman of the National Hydrographic Council, Rear Admiral Sisira Jayakodi (Retd).

The meeting was attended by members of the National Hydrographic Council representing relevant government ministries and maritime authorities. The Council discussed policy and administrative matters of the National Hydrographic Office, along with cooperation with regional and international partners.

Members also deliberated on the proposed relocation of the National Hydrographic Office to a new location at the former Navy Headquarters premises in Colombo, focusing on operational, logistical, and strategic considerations to enhance institutional capacity and service delivery.

The meeting concluded with agreed recommendations to strengthen national hydrographic capabilities in support of maritime safety and sustainable national development
